Mommy Makeover in Barranquilla
If your body changed after pregnancy and breastfeeding, the mommy makeover combines in a single surgery the correction of your abdomen, the care of your breasts and the body contour you want to regain. I evaluate your case calmly to define which combination makes sense for you. 26 years accompanying women through this stage.
What Is a Mommy Makeover?
A mommy makeover isn’t a single surgery, it is a plan we put together combining what your body needs after motherhood: a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) with correction of the muscle separation (diastasis), breast surgery — augmentation, lift or reduction, depending on your case — and liposculpture in the areas that call for it.
Not every patient needs all three components; at your consultation we look together at which combination makes sense for you. It is a major surgery, with a single anesthesia and a single recovery, designed to solve in one surgical session what would otherwise take several separate surgeries.
Who Is a Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
The indication for a Mommy Makeover is established after a complete clinical consultation. Not every woman who wants to reverse the body changes that follow pregnancy is a candidate for this procedure. The decision depends on general health, tissue quality, body weight, medical history and, above all, each patient’s personal goals.
How do you know if you are a good candidate?
She has completed her pregnancies or is not planning a pregnancy soon
A new pregnancy can modify the results achieved in the abdomen, breasts and body contour.
Stable weight, close to ideal
The best results are usually achieved when weight has stayed stable for several months before surgery.
Realistic, well-defined goals
The patient understands what changes are possible given her anatomy and what the limitations of each procedure are.
Non-smoker or willing to stop smoking
Smoking affects healing, increases the risk of complications and can compromise the results.
Good general health
No decompensated cardiovascular disease, clotting disorders, uncontrolled diabetes or active infections.
Discomfort related to post-pregnancy changes
There may be abdominal sagging, separation of the abdominal muscles, loss of breast volume, or localized fat accumulation that does not improve with diet and exercise.

What You Can Combine in Your Mommy Makeover

Tummy Tuck with Diastasis Repair
I remove the excess skin from your abdomen, repair the separation of the rectus muscles (diastasis) with internal sutures, and reposition your navel. Postpartum diastasis is one of the most common changes after pregnancy and is usually the cause of that abdominal appearance that responds to neither diet nor exercise.

Breast Surgery: Augmentation, Lift or Reduction
Depending on what changed in your breasts after breastfeeding, we work with augmentation (if you lost volume), a breast lift (if there’s sagging, with or without implants) or reduction (if the size causes you discomfort). Together we define which one is right for you at the consultation.

Liposculpture of the Peripheral Areas
I treat the fat deposits that the tummy tuck and the breast surgery don’t cover: flanks, back or arms. It helps round out the result and harmonize your silhouette, when the safety of the surgery allows it.

Areas We Work On in a Mommy Makeover
Every mommy makeover is different because every post-pregnancy body is different. In your consultation we review together which of these areas need attention and we build the plan around you.

Your Process: 4 Stages of the Mommy Makeover
Comprehensive Consultation of Abdomen, Breasts and Contour
we take between 60 and 75 minutes because we review three areas: your obstetric history, the state of your abdomen and your diastasis, your breasts and the body contouring areas. We take standardized photographs in my own studio. At the end we decide together which components to include and I give you a detailed written plan and quote.
Pre-Op Workup with a Cardiovascular Focus
because this is a combination of major surgeries with a longer operating time, we reinforce the evaluation: complete lab work, an electrocardiogram, assessment by an internist and by the anesthesiologist, with special attention to cardiovascular and blood clot risk. We only move forward when everything is within the proper range.
Surgery with an Extended Medical Team
we operate in a high-complexity clinic, under general anesthesia handled by an anesthesiologist certified in critical care medicine. I am joined by an extended team —surgical technologists and support staff— because there are several components in a single surgical session, which usually takes between 4 and 6 hours. You stay in the hospital 1 to 2 nights under observation.
Supported Recovery, with Drains, Compression Garment, and Bra
you leave surgery with drains, a compression garment and a compression bra. I check you myself at the first follow-ups and my team does the lymphatic drainage in the office, without referring you to third parties. Here it is key that you have family support to care for your baby during the first weeks.
Your Mommy Makeover Recovery: What to Expect Day by Day
Days 1 to 7 – Hospital Stay, Drains, and Rest with Help at Home
you stay in the hospital 1 to 2 nights. You go home with drains, a compression garment and a support bra, and with instructions to keep a semi-flexed position when walking and sleeping so you don’t put tension on the abdominal suture. You need help with anything that involves lifting weight, including your baby.
Week 2 – Gradual Drain Removal
you come in for your first office follow-up. We check the drains, the sutures and how you are progressing. You still have limited mobility and the compression garment and bra stay on all day. You still cannot lift your baby.
Weeks 3 to 4 — You Stand Up Straighter
we remove the stitches and, if the drainage allows it, the remaining drains. You start to walk more upright, although the swelling and the tenderness in the scars are still noticeable. Formal medical leave covers this period.
Month 6 to 12 — Stable Result
the swelling has mostly gone down and the shape of your abdomen, your breasts and your contour is considered stable. The scars keep maturing until close to the one-year mark. The result holds if you keep your weight and there are no later pregnancies.
Real Results
Expected Results of Your Mommy Makeover:
What Can and Cannot Be Done
A mommy makeover brings a visible change to your abdomen, your breasts and your contour. But the result depends on your
prior anatomy, your starting weight, how many pregnancies you had and how you heal. It isn’t a body out of a catalog: it is a
refined version of your own, with permanent scars planned to remain discreet.
It Holds if Your Weight Is Stable
The result lasts as long as you keep your weight and don’t have later pregnancies. Significant weight changes can alter what was achieved.
A Later Pregnancy Will Change It
If you become pregnant after surgery, both your abdomen and your breasts can change again. That’s why the usual recommendation is to do it once you’re done having children.
Scars Are Permanent
They are left in areas planned to be discreet, but they do not disappear completely. They mature over the first year until they reach their definitive tone.
It Is Not a Weight-Loss Method
It removes skin, repairs muscle, and treats localized fat, but it does not replace healthy eating. If you need to lose a significant amount of weight, it is better to achieve that before surgery.
Post-Op Care
Specific to Mommy Makeover
What you do at home has a direct influence on your final result. Because this is a combination of major surgeries, these instructions are especially strict. I give them to you in writing before you leave surgery.
