Buttock Augmentation and BBL in Barranquilla

I use your own fat to give your figure a more harmonious proportion: I slim the waist, round the buttocks and balance your whole silhouette. With a conservative technique, because in this procedure safety comes first. I’m Dr. Boris Henríquez, plastic surgeon, with more than 26 years of experience in Barranquilla.

What Is Buttock Augmentation?

Buttock augmentation is the surgery that improves the shape, the volume and the projection of the buttocks. When I do it with your own fat it is called a BBL: I remove fat from the areas where you have extra: abdomen, waist, back. I process it and graft it into the buttock.

That is why the result does not depend on the buttock alone: much of the change comes from slimming the waist and the back. It is a whole-silhouette surgery, not a single-area one. There is also the option with implants, and at your consultation I explain which one fits your body better.

Who Is a Candidate for Buttock Augmentation?

This is a surgery where being a good candidate matters more than in any other, because safety depends on it. I do not operate on everyone who asks. These are the points I go over with you:

Who Is a Candidate for Buttock Augmentation?

You want to increase the volume of your buttocks

You want a more harmonious, projected appearance that fits your body shape.

You have little projection or shape in your buttocks

Your buttocks look flat or have lost definition with the passing of time or with weight loss.

You have enough fat for a transfer

You have fat deposits in other areas of the body that can be used to improve the contour of your buttocks.

You maintain a stable weight

A stable body weight helps achieve more predictable, longer-lasting results.

You enjoy good general health

You have no medical conditions that increase surgical risk or make recovery more difficult.

You have realistic expectations about the procedure

You understand the scope of the surgery and are looking for a natural improvement that is proportionate to your anatomy.

Your Process: 4 Stages of Your Surgery

Consultation and Surgical Plan

It all starts with a calm conversation. I assess your whole figure, the fat available for grafting, the quality of your skin and the shape of your buttocks. I tell you frankly what volume is realistic and what isn’t.

Pre-Surgical Preparation

The internist evaluates you, orders the tests that apply, and the anesthesiologist reviews your case. I give you written instructions for the days beforehand and the care needed to prevent blood clots.

The Surgery

First I remove the fat from the donor areas and process it. Then I graft it into the buttock, always in the superficial plane and in layers, so that it gets a good blood supply and the procedure is safe.

Follow-Up Visits and Monitoring

I accompany you at scheduled check-ups, with lymphatic drainage and a review of your progress at my office, until the result stabilizes. How many sessions you need depends on your recovery.

Recovery

What to Expect from Your Buttock Augmentation: Day by Day

01
01

First days Swelling and Compression Garment

You go home with a compression garment and with instructions not to sit directly on your buttocks. It is normal to feel swelling and discomfort in the areas where I removed fat, more than in the buttocks themselves.

02
02

First weeks Drainage Sessions and Back to Your Routine

The lymphatic drainage sessions begin at my office and the swelling starts to subside. Most patients go back to desk work in a short time; exercise waits longer.

03
03

First Months — The Fat Settles

Part of the grafted fat is reabsorbed and the rest stays permanently. That’s why the buttock looks bigger at first and then settles.

04
04

Final Result — A Defined Silhouette

Once the swelling has finished going down, the real result appears, and it involves both the buttocks and the waist. The fat that survives behaves like any other fat in your body.

Post-Op Care Specific
to Buttock Augmentation

In this surgery the aftercare isn’t a detail: it is what protects the graft and your safety. These are my instructions:

  • Do not sit directly on your buttocks. For as long as I tell you. Use the cushion I give you when you have to sit.
  • Sleep face down or on your side. Never on your back while the fat is integrating.
  • Wear your compression garment exactly as I tell you. Without squeezing the buttocks: it compresses the donor areas, not the graft.
  • Walk from day one. Short, frequent walks: they are the best prevention against thrombosis.
  • Keep up with your lymphatic drainage sessions. They help the swelling go down evenly and the result become better defined.
  • Keep your weight stable. The grafted fat goes up and down with you. Losing weight afterward reduces the volume.
  • No exercise until I clear you. Especially anything that works the glutes and legs.
  • Let me know if anything worries you. Increasing pain, fever, trouble breathing, or pain in one leg: call me right away.

Results Gallery: Before and After

Cases of my own patients who authorized the use of their images. Every body starts from a different figure and a different amount of fat, so these cases are a general reference and not a promise of results.

What to Expect from the Result of Your Buttock Augmentation: Proportion, Not Exaggeration

My goal is not the biggest buttocks possible, it is the buttocks that suit your body. A good result is measured in proportion: the relationship between waist, hips and buttocks, and a natural transition between the three. Extreme volumes, besides looking artificial, are exactly what makes this surgery risky. I would rather tell you no than force a result that does not belong to you.
What people notice is not the buttocks: it is that your whole figure looks balanced.

It Is Your Own Fat

There is no external material and no risk of rejection. The fat that survives integrates into your body and behaves like the rest of your tissue.

Double Benefit

You gain shape in the buttocks and lose volume at the waist, back or abdomen. A good part of the change comes from there.

What Survives Is Permanent

Part of the fat is reabsorbed in the first months and the rest stays. How much varies from one person to another, and we talk about that before operating.

What Buttock Augmentation Does Not Do

It is not a method for losing weight and it does not correct significant skin sagging. And if you do not have enough fat to graft, I tell you from the very first consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions about Buttock Augmentation

That is a very fair question, and the honest answer is: it depends on your case. The price changes according to the donor areas we work on, whether fat or implants are used and the complexity of your figure. Under the guidelines of the Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery, prices are not published online. At your consultation you receive a clear, written estimate.

The BBL uses your own fat: it gives a more natural shape, it also improves your waist and it leaves no foreign material behind, but it requires that you have enough fat. An implant provides projection when there is no fat to graft, although it demands different care and carries its own risks. At your consultation I tell you which one fits your body.

It is when it is done with the right technique and in the right place. The serious cases that have become known come from injecting fat into the muscle, from chasing exaggerated volumes and from operating in places without hospital backup. I graft only in the superficial plane, in measured amounts and in a high-complexity clinic.

A portion is always reabsorbed in the first months; the rest stays permanently. Exactly how much varies from one person to another, depending on your circulation, your care and your weight. That’s why the buttock looks bigger right after surgery than it does months later, and that’s normal.

Not right away. For the first few weeks I ask you to avoid direct pressure on the buttocks and to use a cushion when you have to sit, because that pressure affects the fat that is still integrating. I will tell you at your check-ups when you can go back to normal, based on how you are progressing.
