Hyaluronic Acid / Facial Fillers in Barranquilla

I use certified hyaluronic acid fillers to restore volume to your face, define your jawline or correct small details of your nose, right in my medical office. Because I am a plastic surgeon, I have the judgment to know when filler is enough and when your case needs something more. 26 years of experience.

What Is Hyaluronic Acid?

It is a substance your skin produces naturally, in charge of holding water and maintaining volume and elasticity. Over the years that level drops and folds and volume loss appear. Medical-grade hyaluronic acid is a biocompatible, resorbable gel that I apply in different areas of your face to restore volume, define contours and soften folds. It is not a permanent implant: your body metabolizes it over time.

Who Is a Candidate for a Treatment with Hyaluronic Acid Fillers?

The indication for a hyaluronic acid filler treatment is established after a complete medical consultation. Not everyone who wants to improve some aspect of their face needs the same procedure or the same amount of product. The decision depends on facial anatomy, skin quality, aesthetic goals and the patient’s expectations. Hyaluronic acid fillers deliver personalized, natural results when they are used appropriately.

How do you know if you are a good candidate?

People who want to restore facial volume

Ideal for those with volume loss in areas such as the lips, cheekbones, chin or facial folds.

Patients looking to improve facial harmony without surgery

It allows aesthetic adjustments with immediate results and no lengthy recovery time.

Realistic, well-defined expectations

The patient understands what improvements can be achieved with hyaluronic acid fillers and when another type of treatment may be needed.

Good general health

No active infections in the area to be treated, no uncontrolled illnesses or conditions that contraindicate the procedure.

People who want natural results

They want to enhance their facial features while keeping a balanced appearance that fits their anatomy.

Commitment to the aftercare recommendations

Willingness to follow medical instructions and to attend follow-up visits when needed in order to optimize the results.

Who Is a Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

Minimum age with complete facial development

Generally 16 to 18 years old; before that the cartilage and bone keep growing and the result can vary.

Realistic, well-defined goals

The patient understands which changes are possible given their anatomy and which are not.

Non-smoker, or willing to quit tobacco

Smoking affects healing and increases complications.

Good general health

No decompensated cardiovascular disease, clotting disorders or active infections.

Valid reasons that are your own

The decision comes from the patient, not from outside pressure from a partner, family or social circle.

Availability for the recovery period

Enough time to follow the rest period, the check-ups and the specific care instructions.

Your Process: 4 Steps of Your Treatment

Complete Facial Consultation

I review your whole face, assess your facial thirds, identify where you have lost volume and we talk about what is realistic to achieve with hyaluronic acid fillers and what is not.

Marking, Product, and Anesthesia

I mark the areas to be treated and choose the right product for each one —denser for cheekbones and jawline, more fluid for lips and under-eye hollows—. I apply topical anesthesia or a local block in more sensitive areas such as the lips.

Application with a Needle or Cannula

depending on the area, I use a needle or a cannula —the cannula reduces the risk of bruising and of hitting a blood vessel—. Each injection is slow and with doses measured in milliliters.

Immediate Instructions and Follow-Up at 14 Days

I apply ice over the area and give you the instructions for the next few days. You go back to your routine the same day. We schedule an optional follow-up between day 14 and 21 to review the result once it has settled.

What to Expect from Your Hyaluronic Acid Fillers: Day by Day

01
01

First 24 hours Result Visible Right Away

you see the change from the moment you leave the office, although mild swelling or some bruising is normal while the tissue responds.

02
02

Days 2 to 7 The Swelling Eases

the swelling goes down little by little and the product begins to integrate with your tissue.

03
03

Days 14 to 21 — Settled Result

the product is now stable. If we scheduled the optional follow-up, this is where we check whether any area needs an adjustment.

The Months After — Duration Depends on the Area

the result stays at its best for several months and then it is gradually reabsorbed, between 6 and 18 months depending on the area, without building up in your body.

Post-Op Care Specific to Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Hyaluronic acid fillers don’t put you in recovery: you go on with your routine the same day. These instructions are for the first few days and they help the product settle well.

  • Intermittent ice for the first 24 hours. Ten minutes every hour, especially in the first hours.
  • No massaging or pressing on the area for 48 hours. Unless I tell you otherwise.
  • Avoid intense exercise for the first 24 to 48 hours. Any activity that makes you sweat a lot can affect how it settles.
  • Avoid direct sun, saunas, and intense heat during the first week. Heat can speed up how quickly the product is absorbed.
  • Wait 2 weeks for other facial procedures. Deep cleansings, peels, or radiofrequency have to wait.
  • Wash your face gently and use sunscreen. From the second day on, a mild soap and daily sunscreen.
  • Stay well hydrated. Drinking enough water helps the product perform.
  • Avoid makeup on the area for the first 12 hours. Give your skin time to settle before you put on makeup.

What to Expect from the Result of Your Hyaluronic Acid Fillers: Natural, Not Excessive

My goal with hyaluronic acid fillers is always to restore the volume you have lost while keeping your features, not to change who you are. Too much product, or repeated applications without need, creates that ‘puffy face’ effect that I do not want for you. I calibrate the dose so the result looks like you, rested.

What people notice is not the filler: it is that you look better rested and more harmonious.

Natural Result

It restores volume and harmonizes your face while preserving your features. What we look for is that you still look like you.

It Lasts 6 to 18 Months Depending on the Area

Lips and areas that move a lot last less; cheekbones, chin and jawline last longer. We review this together at each follow-up.

It Is Temporary and Reversible

Your body metabolizes it over time, and if something doesn’t turn out the way you expected, I can reverse it with hyaluronidase.

When It Is Not Enough

If there is advanced laxity or excess skin, fillers give a partial improvement but don’t solve the underlying problem. In those cases I tell you directly and we talk about the appropriate surgical option.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions about Rhinoplasty

It depends on the brand and density of the product, how many milliliters you need for each area, how many areas we treat in the same session and how complex the technique is (areas such as under-eye hollows or non-surgical nose reshaping call for more experience). At your consultation I give you a detailed written quote. I don’t publish prices on the site; that is what the guidelines of my medical association indicate.

It varies depending on the area. In the lips, because of the constant movement, it usually lasts between 6 and 9 months. In the cheekbones, chin and jawline it lasts longer: between 12 and 18 months. In the under-eye area and non-surgical nose reshaping, between 8 and 12 months. Your metabolism, sun exposure and habits also play a part. We decide together when to repeat it at each follow-up.

They are very different things. Hyaluronic acid is a substance your body produces naturally, and it is reabsorbable: it metabolizes over time without building up. Biopolymers are non-reabsorbable substances, banned in Colombia, that can leave granulomas, product migration or permanent deformity. If somewhere outside a medical setting you were given a ‘filler’ and you’re not sure what it was, I can evaluate you and plan its removal if needed.

It works well when you have good underlying bone structure and mild to moderate laxity: with a high-density product in the right planes, the result is visible right away and lasts 12 to 18 months. If your laxity is more advanced, fillers give a limited result and we should talk about surgical options such as a neck lift or a facelift. We define that at your consultation.
